In recent years, there have been worldwide problems stemming from the Deindustrialization or maturation of existing industries, and losses in regional environmental prosperity. These facts call for active approaches to creating new industries, advancing regional industries, and securing genuinely good living for community residents, as well as a transition to an intelligence-intensive industrial structure utilizing sophisticated advanced technologies based on information technologies. The Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, Aichi Prefectural University seeks to develop advanced information system engineers with mastery of advanced specialized knowledge and technologies.

Master's Course (two years)

The master's course consists of three departments: information systems, media informatics, and systems science. The department of information systems will develop advanced information system engineers with mastery of advanced specialized knowledge and technologies in disciplines that include information mathematics, computer systems, computer software, information network and ubiquitous computing, as well as competence in constructing practical information systems and developing new information communication technologies.

The department of media informatics will develop advanced information system engineers with mastery of advanced specialized knowledge and technologies in disciplines that include knowledge of knowledge information processing, language information processing, audio-visual information processing, etc., and with skills to generate, process, accumulate and use information media, and with technologies to generate, process, accumulate and use digital media.

Doctoral course (three years)

Doctoral course consists of three majors: information systems, media information, and systems science. Education programs consist of specialized discipline courses (two units), related courses, collaborative courses (two units for related courses and collaborative courses combined) and special research (eight units); collaborative

courses have collaborative research projects, which will offer opportunities to experience practical research in real society. Special research will have supervising instructors giving research supervision on setting up research subjects to writing doctoral dissertations. The school year starts in April with the classes to be conducted in Japanese, which may be given in English depending on supervising instructors.

Pre-master's / pre-doctoral programs (non-degree programs)

Pre-master's and pre-doctoral programs are available for students to work on specified research assignments under supervising instructors. Pre-master's program is for researchers who have an undergraduate degree and pre-doctoral program is for researchers who have a master's degree. Students of pre-master's / pre-doctoral programs conduct research for one year starting in April or six months starting in October.
