The Aichi Prefectural University Information Science and Technology Collaborative Research Institute was launched in April 2008 with the purpose of fostering industry-academic collaboration and facilitating links between universities and industrial circles.
The Institute is part of the School of Information Science and Technology, and 28 study centers staffed by the faculty of the School are the key resources for our collaborative research projects involving companies in various industries, government agencies, and other research institutes. The fruits of our research programs are to be used both to invigorate graduate and undergraduate learning at the School, and to feed ideas and applications into industrial circles for the benefit of society.
The Institute is comprised of three divisions.
The Division of Advanced Information Systems pursues the development of systems that can be put into wide use within five to ten years by applying currently mature technologies, in order to support the creation of a bountiful and advanced information society. Areas of research include preventive safety technologies for intelligent transportation systems, and next-generation information networks.
The Division of Innovative Information Sciences conducts research and development that emphasize innovation for the creation of entirely new kinds of technology. Areas of research include neuroinformatics (computational modeling of living neuromechanisms), and techniques of software development.
The Division of Environmental Informatics uses information science as an approach for evaluating environmental policy solutions. A current research focus is the assessment of heat island mitigation by means of satellite image analysis and computer simulations.
Information science today continues to expand and progress very rapidly, as symbolized by the diffusion of smartphones and other personal devices. As a collaborative research institute, we have exceptional strengths and flexibility for providing new seeds to serve emerging needs, and we are fully committed to our mission of supporting advancement and fresh diversification of outstanding Aichi's industrial base.
We look forward to deepening our relationships with many parties who have graciously extended vital support and understanding.
